The Fundamentals

The Frappuccino you purchase at your local coffee shop might be difficult to replicate because they use their specific Frappuccino base. However, this doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

A Frappuccino usually consists of an iced cappuccino and it is topped with whipped cream.  It usually contains espresso, coffee, whipped cream, sweeteners, and milk. The following recipes use Frappuccino base alternatives such as ice cream or condensed milk to thicken and sweeten the Frappuccino.

The Espresso Part

Two of the recipes below use coffee. Coffee shops usually use a mixture of coffee and espresso.  For the espresso you can either use an espresso machine or instant coffee.  If you have an espresso machine definitely use it. The powerful taste of the espresso pairs nicely with the other ingredients.

For those of you who do not have an espresso machine, you can use instant coffee.  There are several options to choose from and should work just fine in the recipes.  Using instant coffee is extremely handy and low cost, but the downside is it has a lot less caffeine so your drink might lack the kick you require.

Conclusion

Coffee shops can definitely make amazing tasting Frappuccino’s, but they can get pricey, especially if you have a daily habit of drinking them.  These 3 recipes should serve as a great alternative.  You most likely have the ingredients at home, the customizations are endless, they taste great, they are definitely cheaper and you can either drink them at home or take them on the go.
